Abstract: Human Resource offices today use a wide variety of data processing tools in recruiting, screening, tracking, and serving employees. Other tools are necessary to interact with internal systems, external vendors, and government agencies. Adding the needs for reporting applications for both internal and external use introduces yet another layer of complexity. Furthermore, end users and employees now have the expectation that the web-based applications with which they interact are Web 2.0-savvy and, increasingly, mobile-based. Making these diverse applications and services work together efficiently, securely, and transparently presents huge difficulties. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is one way to seamlessly merge the functions provided by these applications, providing standards-based infrastructure and a solution tailored to the diverse needs and complexities of application interaction. Vince Salvato of CedarCrestone, a recognized leader in SOA technology, will outline the theory behind SOA and provide real-world examples of the ways in which it has been applied by leading HR offices to deliver services that work more effectively and efficiently. A question-and-answer session will follow, and the presentation will be recorded for later access from the OHUG website.

Bio: Vince Salvato specializes in architecting Middleware solutions utilizing Oracle Technology for clients. Vince works to educate Oracle’s vast ecosystem of clients, prospects, analysts, and partners about the benefits of Fusion Middleware within the Commercial and Public Sector space across the United States. He has been developing Middleware-based solutions and implementations for the past seven years. He has served on Oracle’s BPEL/SOA Suite Customer Advisory Board since its inception. Prior to CedarCrestone, Vince was a principal and founder of E2E Consulting, which was acquired by CedarCrestone in July 2008.
